MIAMI – Carlos Ortiz posted the lowest score in the field during Sunday’s Final of the LIV Golf Team Championship, as Fireballs GC finished sixth overall in the 2023 season finale.

Starting his round on the seventh hole, Ortiz’s 7-under 64 included eight birdies. He birdied three of his first five holes. After making his only bogey at the par-4 14th, he bounced back with two consecutive birdies. He then finished with a flourish, with birdies on four of his final six holes.

The next lowest round in the field was shot by Anirban Lahiri, who posted a 65 for the winning Crushers GC.

Overall, the Fireballs finished second in the Tier 2 competition that determined final positions 5 through 8. With all four scores counting for the only time in the season, the Fireballs shot a counting score of 4 under to finish sixth, three strokes behind Stinger GC in Tier 2.

No other Fireball player was able to break par on the difficult Blue Monster course at Trump National Doral. Sergio Garcia and Eugenio Chacarra shot 1-over 73s, while Abraham Ancer shot 74.
