MIAMI – Young Eugenio Chacarra set the tone for Friday’s quarterfinals of the Team Championship in Miami, posting the most lopsided victory of the day as Fireballs GC advanced to the Semifinals.

The Fireballs beat Majesticks GC, 2-1, on the strength of Chacarra’s 6 & 5 victory over Sam Horsfield and the duo of Abraham Ancer/Carlos Ortiz beating Majesticks co-captains Lee Westwood/Ian Poulter 4 & 2 in Foursomes.

The Fireballs will now face RangeGoats GC in Saturday’s semifinals.

Garcia will play RangeGoats captain Bubba Watson in singles, while Chacarra takes on 2023 LIV Golf Individual Champion Talor Gooch in the other singles. Ancer and Ortiz will face Thomas Pieters and Harold Varner III in Foursomes.

The 23-year-old Chacarra produced a dominant performance, shooting 5 under on the 13 holes played at the Blue Monster. That helped offset Garcia’s 1-up loss to Henrik Stenson.

Ancer and Ortiz won two of the last four holes with birdies to break open a tight match.

“Obviously RangeGoats have been playing very consistently throughout the year, and they made a big push towards the end of the year to get in that top 4,” said Garcia.

“We're going to go out there, we're going to give it our best. My boys played amazing today, so I hope that they do more of the same tomorrow, and hopefully I'll play a little bit better, and we'll see if we can get that W.”
