FIREBALLS CLAIM SECOND PLACE ON TEAM LEADERBOARD IN CHICAGO

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Fireballs GC secured a second-place team finish at LIV Golf Chicago, the team’s third podium result of the 2023 LIV Golf League season.

The second-place finish was the Fireballs’ best result since a second place in Singapore in the fifth tournament of the season. The Fireballs remain sixth in the season-long points with one regular-season event before the Miami Team Championship.

As a team, the Fireballs shot 8 under in the final round at Rich Harvest Farms to finish at 30 under, three shots behind winners Crushers GC.

Captain Sergio Garcia led the way on Sunday, shooting a 4-under 67. Other counting scores came from Abraham Ancer (69) and Eugenio Chacarra (69).

Ancer was the Fireballs’ best individual performer for the week, finishing at 10 under for the three rounds and claiming eighth place in points. Ancer finished tied for fifth on the traditional leaderboard.

Teammates Carlos Ortiz, Garcia and Chacarra were not far behind on the leaderboard, an impressive show of depth by the lineup.

Ortiz shot 70 to finish at 8 under while Garcia and Chacarra finished at 7 under. Ortiz was 12th on the points leaderboard, with Garcia 14th and Chacarra 16th.
